Love in Action July 2025

Welcome to your installment of our “Love in Action” series! We are breaking through the news cycle with stories that remind us the courage that is possible when we lead with humanity and Revolutionary Love. Sign up to get these straight to your inbox here

Our hearts are broken.

More than 60,000 Palestinians — including over 17,000 children — have been killed in Gaza. The blockade has pushed the region to the brink of famine. Aid trucks are delayed or denied, and desperate families gathering for food face deadly attacks by Israeli and American troops.

And still, the world keeps turning.

Maybe you’re like me — watching the news, scrolling on social media to the image of a hungry child in Gaza, hearing someone justify the death of children.

It’s all too much. You look away. You feel guilty for not bearing witness. You wonder how to keep surviving in the face of all this grief.

That ache in your heart? That’s your courage. That’s your humanity.

In a world that profits from—and depends on—your apathy, you refuse to look away. You refuse to surrender your humanity. You stand firm in love. You’re fighting for a world where no one is left outside our circle of care.

And you are not alone.

Millions of people are fighting alongside you.

Last month, we partnered with Human Concern International to amplify emergency aid to Gaza. After two months of complete blockade, the HCI successfully delivered two trucks of food and supplies — with dignity, care, and love. (See photos above. Read their story here.)

More aid shipments are coming. You can help make the next one possible for families in Gaza by donating here.

Let us keep harnessing this grief and pain into energy and action. Let us keep showing up courageously with love.

This issue is full of stories from others — like you — dreaming of a better world and putting love into action.

Inside this issue:

  • Act of Love Story: Journalist Jose Antonio Vargas details his experience as an undocumented Filipino American.

  • Social Media: Dr. Gabor Maté on why we have not failed — even as we witness destruction in Gaza.

  • Art + Music: “What the world needs now is love” by Broadway for Orlando.

  • Community Spotlight: An immigration lawyer chooses to practice love every day with her clients, leading to a coloring book series to practice joy.

With love,

Tahmina Watson is the Founding Attorney of Watson Immigration Law and had come to realize that love is the essence of everything.

“In this experiment, I learned that, like meditation, the “action of love” is a practice. It doesn’t happen in one day. You must keep remembering to do so, especially when someone or something triggers negative emotions like anxiety, stress, fear, or anger.”

Tahmina is also a nature photographer and creator of the Color Your Joy coloring book series—a heartfelt project that transforms her own bird and wildlife photographs into line art, inviting others to slow down, connect with nature, and rediscover joy through coloring.

Tahmina’s work is a reflection of her belief that love can be expressed through everyday acts of creativity, presence, and wonder.
